April 4-April 8
I officially started my internship this week. I came in Thursday from 8-12 and Friday from 8-5. On Thursday, I "ripped" a few sets (which means I broke them down), moved equipment around, set up lights and cleaned windows for a new set they were building. On Friday, I helped paint the new set all day. Some of the challenges I faced were: when trying to set up lights that I wasn't quite familiar with, I looked at another stand that was already set up and mimicked that. Thursday, I learned an industry buzzword: "silo". Short for silhouette, it is basically when the subject is shot against a white background so that they can change the background in post production.
